    • Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie problemu bezrobocia i jego skutków na podstawie wyselekcjonowanej literatury przedmiotu w kontekście wybranych form aktywizacji społecznej i zawodowej, a także omówienie zarysu problematyki polityki społecznej na rzecz osób bezrobotnych. W artykule omówiono wybrane formy aktywizacji społeczno-zawodowej na przykładzie programów realizowanych przez Ośrodek Pomocy Społecznej w Chorzowie. Główną metodą badawczą zastosowaną w artykule jest analiza danych zastanych (statystycznych) oraz analiza literatury przedmiotu. Artykuł przeglądowy.
    • The article deals with the topic of unemployment and its conse-quences in the context of selected forms of social and professional activation. Unemployment is considered to be one of the most difficult socio-economic problems and can be considered on many levels. Unemployment significantly reduces the standard of living of an unemployed person and meeting their necessary needs, causing negative effects in the psychosocial economic sphere both for the individual and the society. The implementation of solutions aimed at reducing the level of unemployment is dealt with by the employment policy, unemployment prevention, especially in its active model. The aim of this social policy is social and professional activation of the unemployed, their return to the labor market and economic independence. The article discusses selected forms of social and professional activation by the example of programs imple-mented by the Social Welfare Center in Chorzów.
