- Abstrakt: A phenomenological approach to suffering is based on the analysis of the phenomenon, i.e. of what is given. In her Philosophy of Psychology and the Humanities, Stein describes her studies of the structure of human personality and uses the term “lived experience” (Erlebnis), which appeared in biographical literature of the late 19th century. H-G. Gadamer links it with aesthetic consciousness. Stein understands this concept in the context of free will, i.e. of the individual’s own will, as a counterpart of insight, which sets the boundaries of experience. The focus of M. Heidegger’s studies is existence; he is not interested in correlates of consciousness, as other phenomenologists, but in consciousness itself. The basic concept in his reflection is „being present” (Dasein), which manifest itself in care. In order for Dasein to be authentic, it must free itself from social pressures, which desensitize and discourage both living and dying
