  • Abstrakt: Music and rhythm are present from the very first moment of a child’s life. The sound of the mother’s beating heart, tone of voice, melodies that accompany her every day, become one of the earliest listening experiences of a child. Listening to quiet, relaxing music during pregnancy brings a significant impact on the developing baby. It makes it calmer, happier, and the mother handles inconvenience of her altered state in a better way. It also happens that after the birth, children prefer the same kind of music they got to know in their mother’s womb. As research proves, music has a tremendous impact on the development of many functions and abilities – starting from the development of speech, through the skills related to learning school subjects to the emotional development of a child. Due to many benefits related to exposure to music and rhythm, music therapy can successfully become one of the elements supporting the development of a child.
