  • Abstract in English: This monograph is a continuation of a broader discourse in the Polish environment on the Salesian teacher seen from the perspective of Fr. Bosco’s educational system. We need to emphasize that in the Polish Salesian environment there are not enough empirical works related to the person of a teacher-educator in the context of Salesian schools and oratories. Thus, the willingness to explore the vision of a teacher, as well as his/her tasks and competences in the perspective of the preventive system, seems justified. The author tried to place the considerations presented in this publication within the personalistic vision of man. This work is based on the current scientific research, through the review of available books on the subject (the theoretical part) and the author’s own analysis carried out in the model of quality research (the research part. In the first chapter, the author performs a brief analysis of the available books related to the vision of a teacher-educator against the background of the research of contemporary pedeutologists. In chapter two, based on the analysis of Polish and foreign literaturę (mainly Italian), the outline of John Bosco’s preventive system shall be presented. The third chapter includes the considerations on the role of a Salesian teacher in his/her work with children. The author outlines the image and scope of competences of a Salesian teacher working within different educational contexts. The next chapter presents the commitment of the Salesians in the Polish reality. It shows their activity against the background of the new social and educational challenges after the political change started in 1989. In the research part, the author presented the analysis results in a double-track manner; the common denominator is the figure of a teacher. On the basis of selected books and the application of the method of the text analysis, the image of a Salesian teacher was created. In order to complement and present it in the practical dimension, the author referred to the results of a detailed interview with Fr. Józef Marszałek SDB, a teacher and priest of the youth (chapter 7). The final conclusions include the remarks concerning both theoretical chapters and those chapters that refer to quality research.
