  • Abstrakt: Innovative Methodological and Organisational Activities of Pre-School Teachers The European Parliament declared 2009 the Year of Creativity and Innovation. This title has its indepth justification in changes that may be observed in almost every area of our life. Educational institutions, willing to face the requirements posed by the modern society, also had to react by offering proposals of modernisation activities. These reactions included a full range of adaptive measures, from passive acceptance of things to come, to autonomous activities aimed at reorganisation of work in preschools and schools. Among activities contributing to the development of educational units, educational innovations occupy a special place. On the one hand, they are a response to the social expectations (in particular of parents who are looking for proper institutions to educate their children) and on the other, to children’s interests. Educational innovations are an effect of invention of the teachers who do not want the educational process to be confined to the fulfilment of the core curriculum. Nevertheless, the necessity of preparing them and introducing them also results from the binding legal provisions. The subject matter of this study are educational innovations. The objective of the study is the description of selected innovative activities performed by preschool teachers. The authors focused on presentation of possibilities for supporting children’s development with the use of educational balls (“Eduball”), a musical instrument — “flageolet”, the Tuputan methods and the magic carpet (a didactic aid used during physical exercises). All of the described educational innovations were introduced in selected preschools (Municipal Preschool No. 10 in Jaworzno, Local Government Preschool No. 33 in Krakow, Municipal Preschool No. 19 in Jaworzno and Public Preschool No. 1 in Nowe Skalmierzyce). On the basis of the analysed reference literature on the subject, the concept of innovations and, in particular, educational innovations has been explained. The text of the article presents the innovation typology, depending on the adopted criterion of division, and characterises the sources for undertaking innovation activities. Tables in the article present the number and types of educational innovations introduced to preschools during the 2015/2016 school year.
