- Abstrakt w j. angielskim: In those countries which are characterized by a non-monolithic national and ethnic structure, there is a high probability of tensions and conflicts within the society between the dominant majority and minority groups. If there are many of these groups, such tensions can also arise directly between them. Hence, many countries around the world attempt to examine, from various perspectives, relationships between minority groups and interactions between them. Various solutions are also adopted to provide necessary rights for minority groups for to enable them to maintain their own identity, but without taking a risk to reduce the cohesion of society as a whole. Media can play a helpful role in maintaining the ethnic identity of the group. Some minority communities – especially where there were larger concentrations of immigrants from one country or region – created their own press, radio and television programs. They used in tchem the mother language of the minority, but they raised also the issues important to the community. However, the mass-media, especially radio and television, are very expensive to maintain. They require considerable financial outlays, and it should be a group itself obliged to pay for all. Obviously, in this case, most of the minorities do not have such resources at their disposal, so they are excluded. To help solve such difficulties and facilitate the integration of minority groups at the same time, in some countries with a multicultural structure were made attempts to create multilingual radio and television stations for minority and ethnic groups. Their goal was to guarantee for this type of minority the necessary information and access to their culture through the media, as well as the potential to cultivate their own traditions and customs. On the other hand, these media were to be used to conduct multicultural policies and to aid minorities in the process of their integration with the rest of society. One of the examples of such radio is the 3ZZZ station founded in 1986 in Melbourne, Australia, to which this monograph is dedicated. The creation of the station was a fulfilment of the expectations of minority communities in terms of their access to the media. It was also part of the implementation of the idea of a multicultural society as a new political and social doctrine of the Australian state. Radio 3ZZZ, which was created as an experimental broadcasting station, became over the years, on the one hand, a symbol of freedom and independence of ethnic media, and on the other hand, an instrument of the cultural exchange for many national, ethnic and language communities in Australia
