  • Abstrakt w j. angielskim: The subject of the book includes the ideas of communication, collective concepts of communication, as well as the social history of communication of the period of the first orality and the appearance of literacy. In the book, through the bias of communication, I have analysed the archaeology of politics and communication. I have focused my attention on the issues related to the archaeology of communication (language) and politics. I have omitted other subjects, which might be important for the science of politics and, of course, the philosophy of politics, and which I have found in the books of the analysed authors. The subject of my intellectual exploration includes modern thinkers who have dealt with the issues that are now ascribed to the science of communication, or who took up subjects that are important for it. Most of the ideas that have been analysed are rooted in the French Enlightenment. As I have emphasized in the title, I have carried out the analysis of the history of the idea of communication, and I have considered the collective concepts of communication in the modern world. The history of communication, which includes the history of the idea of communication, is a scientific discipline separated from the science of communication and history at the beginning of the 21st century, shaped mainly by the environment of philosophers, cultural scientist, linguists, cultural anthropologists, historians of politics and political thought, as well as media scientists. It is in the above mentioned sciences that I have been looking for the methodology of the research and theoretical assumptions. The book I am presenting is not an encyclopaedia or a data base that includes the ideas of communication related to the origin of language. The book is close to the understanding of the history of the idea by Ernst Cassirer to whom I have referred in chapter three entitled: “The Beginning of the World Symbolisation”. The author of the monumental history of cognition perceives the age in a functional, and not a substantial manner. In his opinion, an age is not a collection of facts, but a system of thoughts that are interconnected in a discoursive way. The frames of an age are not determined by a list of names, discoveries, or fixed dates, but by a common function expressed in the systematic interconnection of various phenomena and processes. The history of an age has to show a logical structure and carry out a synthesis, i. e. see new relations and phenomena. I am not a specialist in particular ideas; instead, I perceive my role as the one who analyses a whole. I treat the above-mentioned work as the voice of a historian of a political thought and a historian of idea coming from the environment of theoreticians of politics. The book defends the humanistic perspective in the science of politics; it is a defense of a theoretical reason. It includes the issues that belong to the history of idea, history of communication (chapters I, III, IV), and the history of political thought (chapter II). The history of the idea of communication is similar to the history of the idea – a discipline shaped in the circle of the European humanities of the 19th century, mainly in the German cultural area. In the book I have discussed the views of one of the creators of the idea history – E. Cassirer, but other historians of the idea are also appreciated in my work. The work includes four chapters preceded with the introduction and followed by the conclusion. In the first chapter I have outlined the debate which took place from the French Enlightenment to the middle of the 20th century. In the second half of the 20th century the thought of communication sensu stricto started to be shaped, which became the basis for formulating the communication paradigm in science. I have started the modern debate with the ancien conclusion (I did the same in chapters II and III) that summarized the statements of the classical science (Lucretius, Diodorus Sicilus).
