  • Abstrakt w j. angielskim: The introductory part of the monograph entitled Tangles: Flows, Architextures, Hybrids. Polish (E)poetry in the Age of Convergence and Processuality discusses the context in which an e-literary work based on a new-media carrier is rooted and the environment in which it is created. Such a work exists in a network of relations not only with the converging media, but also with many other spheres of life and areas of science between which there occurs a constant flow (those issues are outlined in the first subchapter entitled Literature in the Network of Relations: Receptive Difficulties). It is due to its placement “in-between”, – which results in the fact that e-literature remains within the area of the flows, – that various difficulties arise: both ones regarding reception (related to e.g. the tendency to marginalise e-literature, which is understood as a sort of niche work, often misinterpreted as an excessively hermetic literary inscription; or – on the contrary – perceived as light, popular work undeserving of scholarly reflection), and methodological ones. They stem from the dispersal of methods and the emergence of semi-methods, but – first of all – from interdisciplinarity with which such literature is connected (Methodological Dispersal). It turns out that the state of being tangled and the very metaphor of the “tangle” is used in scholarly descriptions so often that is ceases to be identified and interpreted as an artistic device, and is becoming a useful category of a considerable interpretative potential (e.g. able to show key compositional and thematic features of an e-work). This question is presented in the subchapter entitled Tangles, Knots, Common Places. The second part of the chapter describes the process of new, but increasingly present in critical, literature notions such as “digital humanities” (which is the most natural environment for e-poetry), as well as e-literature, including its sub-divisions and generations (these issues are discussed in the subchapters: Digital Humanities; E-literature: Definition Approach). Also, in this part of the chapter, I present and describe briefly specific circles which create e-poetry (taking into account the fact that the process of creating an e-poem not only involves the creative act itself, but also – because of a complicated way of creation and the cost it generates – a set of collective activities fulfilled by poets, IT specialists, computer graphic designers, as well as institutions; this subject is discussed in the subchapter entitled Environments which Create E-poetry). The last subchapters of the first part emphasize the importance of the literary and artistic tradition which, together with the converging new-media environment, provides the conditions that facilitate the creation of new forms of e-literary activity, though they do not mention all the complexities of the phenomenon or all the intentions related to the creation of particular e-works. Also, these subchapters stress the capability eventualization of reading experience to become “a event”, which is caused by a changed reading situation in which the receiver regains the experience of a direct participation in a real event of an emerging poem due to his or her participation in the performative act of constituting the e-poem, (subchapters: The Importance of Literary and Artistic Tradition; Eventualization of a Reading Experience). The objective of the second chapter entitled To Put a Poem […] into Motion and Predict the Motion is to present artists’ deep awarness of transformations of contemporary poetry described in the monograph, and to emphasize that this awareness results in the creation of works that reflect the changes in the form of e-literary, autothematic, progammatic statements taking the shape of e-poem manifestos.
