The article present his definition of bioethics, formal and material subject matter, and also discusses the way of justifying bioethical theses. The Ślipko bioethics is application-oriented, it consists in specifying specific norms developed on the basis of ethics in general to describe specific borderline situations in which various interventions in human life take place. It is a bioethics based on strong epistemological and metaphysical assumptions. Its hallmark is the so-called foundationalism, which reveals itself in the acceptance of strong basic assumptions concerning, for example, the structure of a personal being and its normative position. The article points out that the Ślipko bioethics is not only of historical value, but should be further critically developed in the confrontation with contemporary bioethical theories, as well as supplemented new results of detailed science
