Abstrakt: In May 2017, Rev. prof. dr hab. Edward Walewander’s 70th birthday celebration took place at the Catholic University of Lublin. Rev. dr hab. Edward Walewander is an eminent specialist in the field of education history and comparative pedagogy. His research interests are focused on the basic issues of Christian pedagogy in Poland in the period of the last two centuries, with particular attention to the region of Lublin. The scope of his interests also includes some issues concerning the Polish community abroad, particularly the problem of preserving Polish identity in the light of the activity of Polish clergy abroad. Rev. prof. dr hab. Edward Walewander devotes a lot of his attention to the Polish people living in the East. He is a well-known and highly valued member of the academic community of the Catholic University of Lublin, held in high esteem by academic teachers and students.
