  • Abstrakt: Stanisławów and Tarnopol areas of ZWZ—AK: research status and research postulates The late of two neighboring ZWZ—AK (Union of Armed Struggle Home Army) areas from the Lwów region, Stanisławów and Tarnopol, has already been researched extensively by both veterans and professional historians. The research can be divided into pre-1989 literature, which essentially omitted the question of the first Soviet occupation because of censorship, and post-I989 studies, which recognize the entirety of the problem. At present, apart from a whole range of articles, papers and source publications that are mostly contributions, we have a comprehensive monograph of the Stanisławów Voivodeship during World War II, a monograph of the first Soviet occupation of the Tarnopol Voivodeship, including the monographs of the underground operating there during the first Soviet occupation, a popular monograph of the Home Army in the Eastern Borderlands and a separate publication devoted strictly to the Stanisławów and Tarnopol areas of the Home Army. There is still no comprehensive monograph of the lands of the Tarnopol Voivodeship during World War II. There is no monograph of individual inspectorates in both areas, not to mention districts, whereas in the case of central Poland such detailed studies are often available. It would also be necessary to conduct comprehensive research into the organizational structure and stalling of the districts, preferably to the level of local outposts. An important supplement may be an analysis of the subject matter in the German materials remaining in the various collections, which would perhaps verify the existing findings regarding subversive activities, especially during Operation “Tempest”, and enrich the knowledge of the process of exposing underground structures by the Germans.
