  • Abstrakt w j. angielskim: The death of Fr. Ludwik Grzebień S. J., PhD (1939–2020), was an irreparable loss for the Society of Jesus in Poland and the Jesuit University in Kraków. The Order lost not only an exemplary priest, but also an outstanding scientist, an excellent expert on the history of the Society of Jesus in Poland, and the author of over 1.500 scientific publications, which constitute his considerable contribution to national historiography. One of the students of Fr. Prof. L. Grzebień, whom he introduced into the history of the Society of Jesus in the Republic of Poland and into the arcana of scientific work, is his younger religious confrere, Fr. Stanisław Cieślak S. J., who, in the memoir article, outlines not only the scientific profile of his Master, but also recalls various events from 1986 until the Master’s death in 2020. Thanks to this, the image of Fr. Prof. L. Grzebień, a Jesuit priest and a widely known and respected scholar, was enriched with lile-known or unknown features of his character and facts from the biography that were recorded in his student’s memory and recalled in the article.
