  • Abstrakt w j. angielskim: Qualitative research requires deeper reflection on the role of the researcher in the research process. The purpose of this paper is to address some challenging issues in qualitative research. The following issues are analyzed: the unequal power balance between the researcher and his/her respondents; the unintentional contribution by the researcher to the de-selving of participants, the gender biased composition of the research group, as well as the impact of the research process on the field researcher. A particularly important factor contributing to this impact is the possibility of emotional exhaustion due to facing dangerous situations or listening to emotionally intense narratives. Such a situation might create contextual vulnerability, in which researchers tend to be overwhelmed by the context in which they conduct intensive data collection.
