- Abstrakt w j. angielskim: The aim of this article is to introduce the principles of education for sustainable development in the context of cooperation between teachers and parents. In the first part, the legal aspects regulating the rights and duties of parents and school concerning the upbringing and education of children are presented. Attention is drawn to the need for teachers and schools to treat parents as partners. The results of a study aimed at diagnosing parents’ and teachers’ opinions on their cooperation, especially on decision-making, are also cited. In the second part of the article, the concept of sustainable development, education for sustainable development and competences described as green, which should be shaped at all levels of education, are presented. Finally, proposals are offered for the introduction of programmes promoting sustainability in schools as one of the possible solutions to increase parents’ participation in the development process of their children at school.
