  • Abstrakt w j. polskim: Celem szkicu jest zbadanie funkcji aluzji literackich odnoszących się do poezji angielskiej w Anne of Green Gables Lucy Maud Montgomery. Spośród dwanaściorga poetów i poetek angielskich obecnych w powieści analizie i interpretacji poddane zostały nawiązania do poezji Alfreda, Lorda Tennysona, Roberta Browninga, Caroline Sheridan Norton i Elizabeth Barrett Browning. W pierwszej części autorka analizuje rozdział 28., w którym poemat Tennysona służy charakterystyce głównej bohaterki, towarzyszy ważnemu momentowi w jej dorastaniu, a także współtworzy przesłanie powieści. Część druga została poświęcona ramom kompozycyjnym Anne of Green Gables: widoczną ramę stanowią cytaty z wierszy Browninga, mniej oczywistą, ale również ważną – aluzje do utworów Tennysona. Natomiast w części trzeciej autorka koncentruje się na ważnym dla fabuły utworze Norton Bingen on the Rhine oraz na odwołaniach do poezji Barrett Browning. Stawia również tezę o ważności świadomego wyboru przez Montgomery właśnie tych poetek, których biografie i twórczość wzmacniały emancypacyjną wymowę powieści.
  • Abstrakt w j. angielskim: The aim of the paper is to study literary allusions to English poetry and their functions in Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables. There are twelve English poets mentioned in the novel. Four of them were chosen for analyses and interpretation: Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Browning, Caroline Sheridan Norton and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. In the first part of the article the author focuses on the chapter 28 where Tennyson’s poem is used in the characterization of the protagonist and her coming of age, as well as in creating the message of the whole novel. The second part deals with the quotes from Browning and Tennyson that make narrative frames of the novel. Two female poets – Caroline Norton and Elizabeth Barrett Browning – and their poems constitute the subjects of analyses and interpretation in the third part of the paper. Norton’s Bingen on the Rhine is especially important. The author claims that the allusions to the above mentioned female poets were deliberately chosen by Montgomery to strengthen the emancipatory message of the novel.
