Abstrakt: Hope is a human resource, that cannot be separated from our actions at any time. In many cases, it shapes our decisions, thereby increasing the likelihood of its fulfilment. As such it offers no guarantees, yet paves the way to a life worth living and is, last but not least, a kind of commitment from each of us to our very selves. Hope, however, is one of the lesser-noted topics in philosophy. We begin with Wittgenstein‘s personal remarks on – or better, expressions of – hope and then we discuss its place within his philosophical writings. In doing so, we will show how for Wittgenstein hope is woven into the complex human form of life.
