  • Abstract in English: The cardinal concern of social life results in the indelible conflict between the range of competence of the authority on the one hand and, on the other hand, the freedom, including the contemporaneous ability and non-self-sufficiency of inferior entities as far as achieving the social objectives is concerned. The rule of subsidiarity attempts to omit this self-contradictory situation by proving that the activity of both individuals and social groups, the acceptance of their identity as well as promoting the idea of citizenship and self-governance, may all be aimed at general social interest. It is thus constantly searching for the balance between the autonomy of these entities and the skills of the authority in the conditions that are permanently changeable. The aim of the paper is to focus on the fact that the idea of subsidiarity can be applied to various fields of social life. It is believed to be a means, i.e. a form of "further" participation in social life. The present research is also aimed at realizing the role of ethical categories including first and foremost the human freedom and dignity as the ones that create the civil society.
