  • Abstract in English: The aim of this paper is to compare two concepts: logical culture and critical thinking. The former was formulated and developed in the Lvov-Warsaw School and is still alive at Polish universities. It refers to the idea of certain logical and moral standards of thinking, debating, and speaking. The latter concept was created and popularized in American and Canadian education systems and refers to the skills of analyzing and evaluating reasoning. Since both concepts were formulated at the end of nineteenth century and both refer to certain skills of thinking in logically structured way, they are often equated. The paper aims to show that these two concepts, despite their many similarities, are not the same, and that the concept of logical culture is something broader than critical thinking, for it not only refers to skills in logic, but also includes the ability to speak clearly and to an ethos of thinking and arguing.
